As others have mentioned, the fuel pump is the most likely culprit, but I remembered advice in an old TM about diluting the oil with gas for winter operations. So, quoting from TM9-2855, "Operation and Maintenance of Ordnance Materiel in Extreme Cold (0 to -65 F)"
6.28.d
(1) When system is clean fill with engine oil (OE 10) in the amount specified in the applicable operator's manual.
(2) Dilute engine oil by adding 1-1/2 quarts of gasoline for each 5 quarts of crankcase oil capacity.
...
It goes on to emphasize that you put the usual amount of oil in, and then add gas to a higher level and mark the higher level on the dipstick. Then you check frequently and top off the crankcase with gas as needed to compensate for evaporation.
