mor epower than a stock slant 6. they are only 127 HP and about the same or less torque than a 230. so a modified flathead can have more power than a stock SL6 is my point. if you keep the flat head at about 40 mph the mileage is 14 plus. with 5.83s at 55 9 or 10 mpg. an SL6 in a FFPW with 5.83s would not do any better maybe 1 or 2 mpg? my D300 gets 17 at 55 with 4.88s but has 5 inch highway tread tires. wieghs 1500 lbs less too. PWs are very heavy thigns so good mileage can only be had with diesel I think.
