No knocks, valves clatter because I made sure they were loose rather than tight.

I guess I'll go ahead and invest in a pan gasket, plugs and wires. It might idle after that.

This is the engine from the burned carryall. Had some stuck valves, no taper, no size marking on the piston tops. Mic's 3.260. Looked pretty fresh, things like new manifold studs etc. Tranny was quiet too, but I only had it in 4th. No radiator on it, no water in it, no fuel pump, so only ran one or two float bowls of gas trough it.

So I guess I'll go ahead with the rest of it's install.
