Trash Box shifting

Reed, you should be able to shift a spur gear tranny with no clutch at all. Let off the throttle to where there is no load on the tranny either way then just pop it out of gear and upshift. Slips right in. Downshifting is much tougher, but doable. Let up till there is no load, pop it out of gear and the hard part... rev up the engine to the right rpm of the gear you are downshifting to and slide it in. This takes a lot of getting the rpms down by 'ear'. I drove 15-20 speed dump trucks when I was but a wee lad. Thought my clutch foot was going to fall off before I learned this.
