Many newer one bbl carbs are bigger.

I built my own headers and intake, ran it on the dyno, and had no improvemnt- until I also went to a 2 bbl from the stock B&B. The stock carb was restricting flow to two inches of vacuum at full throttle, max ought to be 1/2".

I haven't yet re-dyno'd it, but the bigger carb made a huge improvement in top end. Maybe 15%? all the way up to 60 hp to the ground, from 50?
