What Glen's talking about is various government programs to encourage/coerce people into getting rid of one source of energy and switch to another. Sort of like Cash For Clunkers except for furnaces. Paying people go scrap perfectly functional vehicles or appliances, because some pinheads in DC or academia think society would be better off that way might not be communism, but it's a hell of a waste of money and a cause of some of the most unnecessary environmental destruction there is. Don't even get me started on the incandescent light bulb ban. It's under the radar now, but boy will people be surprised when it hits next year.
