All good points. We typically run what does a good job for us or someone we know of. For example, my 4.89's with 900x16 STA Super Lugs, and my gearing allow me to run at any legal road speed in the USA.
Yes, there are many tires to consider. However one must be extra careful to be sure the tires selected are designed to fit the Budd Wheels. As an example, I was considering the Yokohamas but noted they were not for our size wheels. I called Yokohama US and asked if they could be used on our Budd wheels. Their answer; Absolutely Not, they are not DOT Listed for our Budd Wheels.
With that in mind, I decided to stay with the STA Super Lugs.
