if its an inline pump on a 12 valve the cause can be that your idle is set too low. the idle stop bolt has a dome of material on it. it wears down and it will cause the exact problem you are having. if its air in the line it wont start right back up. air is caused by the rediculous preheater puck by the lift pump. take it out. or the linenut with the packing above the lift pump. replace all your lines with good marine fuel hose. or low psi hydraulic hose. often the steel lines that come out of the fuel tank get pinholes. I have fixed a couple dozen trucks like this. the easiest way to get to the lift pump is take your lf tire off. take the inner fender out. and bend the innner fender out and away... it bends right back easy!!! and the inner fender goes on quick with plastic rivets. Hope this helps.
