Got to the junkyard today, not looking forward to the hike up and down the rows looking for a PS box. Trucks are usually waaaay in the back too. But much to my surprise, first wrecks inside the gate is a row of 60s-70s pick up. No 72-74 Dodges, but about the 5th one down is a 68 IHC. WITH power steering, and even missing the left front fender. Ten minutes in, already got it in my cart. And didn't even have to roll around in the dirt to get it.
So heading back to the gate, I check out the couple sweptlines, thinking maybe a steering column. Almost left, when I turned around the other way, and saw that one had a Utiline bed= with tailgate! Excellent condition, little rust, only slight curvature. Too bad I couldn't get the center hinge loose, bent it out of the way and unhooked the gate.
Right prices too- $45 each. Well, plus 15 for the hose, $15 more for the u-jt, core charges, "environamental fee", and a Camaro alternator, and tax, made the total $173.
Two hard to find parts, both on my shopping list, and home in time for lunch. A good morning.
