I went over to visit my friend Ray Belsito last Saturday at his shop. I've known Ray since I was in high school. Ray is a great guy that has been restoring cars for a long time. Ray turned 70 this year, which is hard to believe, because he still works in his shop every day like he was 30 years old. He has great stories about all kinds of vehicles, and he is like a walking encyclopedia when it comes to cars.

Ray is the guy, that when I walked into his shop with a Power Wagon cowl light reflector, said "hey that comes out of a 34 Ford cowl light". That's why we know to go to MAC's to get cowl light reflectors.

Ray's specialty is classic cars, Packard, Lincoln, Stutz, Cadillac etc. Saturday he was working a set of Packard front fenders from a custom Waterhouse bodied Packard. The Waterhouse is cool because the Waterhouse company was based in Webster, where we live.

Anyway, Ray was sanding down filler with something I had never seen before. Ray said his son, Ray Jr., brought over this new sanding system for him to try. It looks like wire mesh with hook & loop on the back, like Velcro, only softer. I have seen big abrasive mesh discs before, from when I used to sand floors. This stuff came in rolls and discs. Ray had some Durablocks equipped with the Velcro type stuff, so he rolled out a strip onto the rubber block, cut it, and started sanding.

Ray said he is sold on the system, it cuts faster, lasts longer, and is less expensive than sand paper.

I figured I'd mention it here, in case you get a chance to try it.
