But he says the timing light shows no spark. It might have sparked once and then something came loose or broke. Backfire through the carb could mean a stuck intake valve, which could easily happen on a rig that's sat for 11 years. Easy to pull the valve cover and see if they're all going up and down when you crank it. You can actually run a slant 6 with the valve cover off without very much oil getting splattered around.
