timing a 230

yes, i checked the archives, thank you but couldn't find a definitive, at least current answer to where the timing sweet spot is on a dodge 230. i hooked up my timing light tonight as it was getting dark outside. set the batt cables up, hooked the pickup to the #1 plug wire. engine at idle, warmed up. set the dial on the gun to zero, timing marks appeared way to the pass side (advanced- Correct?) had to turn the dial to about 15 degrees to center marks (as best as you can looking from the side) under the timing mark. truck runs and starts fine, not getting what i would consider top speed of 55 miles per hour w/489s. is 15 degrees too far advanced. seen everything in the archives from 2 degrees to seven and tdc. any thing changed since the manuals and new fuel. what will be the effect of retarding timing back to 'normal' range? thanks!
