thanks for the explanation. i think that i have found a dropping resistor used by vw guys to run their wiper motors in converted vehicles. the orig resistor is long gone and with the mods i made to the front wiring, i would have to relocate it anyway. my plan if i burn it out is to remove the old 6v bulb from the housing and retrofit a led into the housing.
