Hi John,
You are on the right track with the remote inflator. The other safety step that is pretty easy is to wrap a chain around the tire and through the center hole several times. Then, if it does blow off you are not out patching the new hole in your roof, and rubbing the lump on your head from when the ring exited the roof and came back down and thumped you on the head while you were safely outside the garage!
