Oil galley plug missing? Gas = bad pump?

Isn't there an oil galley drilled the length of the block, in line with the lifters. It needs little plugs in the ends, under the timing chain. But that is only likely if t it never had any pressure.

There are some that believe excess gas from a a bad pump will ruin an engine. Was the oil so thin that the pump lost its prime? Can he try priming the pump by removing the shaft and using s drill motor to spin the pump?

Defective filter perhaps? No oil passage got drilled?
