I use a engine puller. I take the top off the trans and use flat iron 2 inches wide as long as the trans with holes on each end to bolt to the top of the trans. There is a chain welded in the middel connecting the two together. Dont have to much slack in the chain. You then open the passenger door and stick the engine hoist in. Having an engine leveler on the end of the puller helps keep the trans level, but it can be done with out it. I have done it both ways. The leveler just makes it a little bit easyer.
