Pin must be tough to stand up to wear. Use whichever bit won't quite fit in the hole, and hammer it in. Then cut it off with a grinder, and put it back in your index, a little short. Don't go in too far, ball still has to fit.

You do have an index by 64ths ?

While that far in, check the soft iron circlip on the cross plunger. When the clip fails, you can't go from 3rd to 4th without grinding reverse. The plunger is the gismo that screws through the big hole in the lever, and rubs on the inside of that big screw cap on the side of the tower.
