The 1962 and later WM-300s with the 251 cubic inch engine (having the radiator further forwards as a result of..) use the longer frame extensions for the winch to stay forward of the radiator. The 1961 and earlier WM-300s with the 230 cu. in engine use the shorter frame extensions. Dennis Sherman has nice repros of both lengths, and it is probably faster and cleaner to buy new from Dennis than tracking down and buying used frame extensions elsewhere.

Thanks for posting the photos of your NV-4500. Is the 1982 engine also a 318? I'll keep an eye on your progress, so kee[p us posted. When successfully completed, you should write an article with photos for the PWA on the 318/NV-4500 installation to archive the conversion.
