My '77 had much the same problems. The previous owner did not do much trouble shooting, just skinned wires till he found one that was hot. I took the black-out switch apart and it was broken inside. I moved the switch around till I got to the position that I had power to all the lights and nothing was blacked out. You might could get a wiring schematic from an army/navy surplus store, I have not tried this yet. The wiring diagram in a Haynes book is very helpful. Get a volt meter before you start anything, this tool is invaluable or at least an auto test probe with "idiot" light to check continuity. Still don't know what all the black wires that were added do, but everything works at this time. Good Luck
