There happen to be 4 M105 trailers for sale in this week's local sale at DRMO Lewis (near Tacoma WA). None is in super good condition, but all are complete and useable. At least one has bows. Look at http://www.drms.dla.mil/catalog/official/40-1010.htm, items 201-204. They'll probably go for $150 to $300 each depending on condition and who's bidding.
$500 is not out of line, but it should be in good condition, with decent tires and brakes and working lights and hopefully a set of racks and bows. They are not too expensive yet because they are still coming out of the DRMOs and they're too big for most people to use. M101 (3/4 ton) trailers go for twice a M105. I saw an M105 hitched to a pickup truck via a homemade hitch elevator and it had to be one of the stupidest-looking things I ever saw on the road. An empty M105 weights 2750 lbs, so loaded you're talking about 3 tons. You could safely put another ton in it for highway use without exceeding the rating of the 900X20 tires at 50 psi.
Oh, another thing to look at. There are some that have a screw jack built into the front post. That's very handy and worth paying extra for (I have to use a farm jack to hitch or unhitch mine when it's loaded). Some also have a little fold-down stand on the back end to keep it from accidentally tipping over backwards. They use an air-over hydraulic brake system and the newer ones have two wheel cylinders per drum whereas the old ones only have one. And remember the light bulbs are 24V.
