M42 is a Command version of the M37. ctxt

The M42 is nothing more than an M37 with a conversion kit to turn it into a command truck.

Additional side cargo canvas was added with windows, and the original cargo top could cover them. A different tail end canvas was used that covered the whole of the tailgate, presumably to positively keep out rain and cold. A table was part of the kit. Most had 100 amp generators, either from selected M37's already equipped thus or they had an upgrade done. The 100 amp generator was needed for radio gear. Another mod was M42 data plates added to the dash. Many M42's were converted back to M37's.

As for the cab (and indeed the rest of the M42), it was identical to the M37.

If your cab differs from a regular M37, it might have been modified at some point, probably in civilian life.
