Take a look at the posts on diesel forums about the Dodge Ram 6.7 cummins egr problems. Independent garages dont have a factory to send them free parts to install and labor as well for defective parts. If an independent shop does not fix the problem they dont get paid or have returning customers. The stealershps have you hostage until the warranty runs out with there certified factory USA Dodge U parts changers graduates. Heck Dodge dealerships dont even have t have parts books for the older models that were never entered onto the computer parts system look up software, if you break down with a older than 85 year they cant find the part that they might even have in a parts bin due to that year truck not online and they dont have a paper parts book to look it up. You have to do the dealerships job and buy a used ebay parts book, call up the dealer and get him to run the part number thru dodge for price location and availablity. An independent shop will go to the internet or NAPA or some aftermarket parts source or even call around out of state Dodge Dealerships to get the parts the Dodge Stealerships cant look up or source in the first place...
