Mark, I work on the west coast in a small port where the main cargo is bananas,we also deal in construction equipment,liquid fertilizer and autos .The port was down in cargo tonnage almost 22% at the peak of the downturn. I am happy to say that we are nearly back to 2007 levels and part of that is due to exporting GM cars and trucks to China, nearly 200,000 units from our port and our labor force is working again.
There is much that has been lost here in the USA to the world economy, but we have always been able to lead the world through innovation and abilities, but for some it is always easier to see the glass as half empty and not half full. Just my two cents worth, no whining from me .Dan H
