That's all. It's done hundreds (thousands?) of time a month. Every truck coming in from out of state has to go through the same process. So, it's not that hard unless some problem issue comes up.
No smog necessary unless the truck is newer than 1976 (I think). They may look for the smog sticker on newer trucks, but they don't do safety checks.
Most of the clerks I have dealt with know nothing about vehicles. I don't think they could tell a V-8 from a straight six. But you make get the clerk who is the exception and knows some arcane rule that will trip you up. Tell her you will be back, grab the paperwork before she can enter some comment in the computer and try somewhere else.
