Automobile Club will verify VIN and register out of state trucks for their members. It's almost worth being a member for this alone. No waiting in long lines at DMV.
The clerk will probably want to see the VIN plate on the door and the corresponding number on the frame. Might help to clean up the frame number and highlight it with white paint.
A local private vehicle registration service quoted $25.00 to come out to my house to verify the VIN.
If you are saying its been a non-op in the state, don't drive it to get it registered.
