His thinking was that the paint will act like glue, they wont' slide against each other until the paint wears away.

He makes many new springs, that get assembled dry, just black oxide to black oxide, then the whole assembly painted on the outside.

I did totally disassemble my WDX style fronts, the ones with a grease groove down the middle of the leaves. and put some grease between them on re-assemble.

The rears were in much better shape, so I didn't feel the need to disassemble them, if I was not going to grease or paint them. So I blasted them externally, and shot them with epoxy primer. Tomorrow, finish coat, then stack all the suspension stuff in a heap off to the side and blast the axles. Ought to have a rolling chassis this week.

So far as paint or grease, your mileage my vary.

This was National Spring, here in El Cajon. He made me a new main leave in one day. And I believe he said $55 for four u-bolts, made while -u-wait.
