I agree. I used to have an old laptop that ran an early version of Windows, even before XP.
Unfortunately it came to the point of needing more work than it was worth investing (at least so said the technician), so I "upgraded" to a new laptop, which lasted about 2 years until the mother board failed. I was given the same story, and bought an other one which now runs the Windows 7. As Daryl in Oz says of his wife's computer with Windows 7, mine freezes frequently, requiring long waits to get it shut down and restarted. There is no doubt in my mind all these "upgrades" are more like "downgrades".
