I just left the original cylinder locks in the doors. Mush easier that welding that hole shut.
Its been years since I pulled a cylinder. From memory, the sliding lock clip is all that holds in the cylinder. But thats from memory.
I did look int he PW Shop manual. It instructs to remove the cylinder;
"move the sliding lock plate towards the shut face of the door, then remove cylinder"
