I see no need for pillow blocks, only 2 u-jts

The 72 +/- Ramcharger box i stole was mounted outside- in fact, all those donors we so avidly seek were mounted out side.

They needed no pillow blocks either, just the two u-jts in a two section shaft. Need a bearing in the bett end of the column, as usual. Looks like that would work on my empty cab sitting on a stripped frame. A broom stick will clear the frame, and go inboard and upwards at the firewall, just where I want it to clear my size 12s.

See the paint worn off you steering columns in the stock position?

I do like the idea of the Bell joint too. It allows for movement of the cab fore-and-aft.

And the more allowance for movement, the quieter the cab is on the road.

The chevy box that I have in mind bolts through from the other side, no bracket needed. But it looks like it will line up with that crossmember. Good for strength and rigidity, but may make it hard to get at bolts for inside. More problems to solve, but I'm a champion problem solver. I do this stuff for the challenge.
