Hey Tim,
Been using that method for years when changing Hyd filters or any liquid tank/system.
There's a tool for this but the brand name escapes now.
Any way it's basically a "T" fitting that you install to the system tank,apply shop air to one end of the T cross and as air exits the other end rushing pass the down part of the T it creates a vacuum in the system and you can open anywhere in the system for filter change or repairs.
Very Handy.
