Don't judge by horsepower, use watts.

They seem to lie about horsepower, but not watts. Amps x volts = watts, 770 watts per real horsepower. Basically, one real horsepower is about the limit on 110v.

I'm running a $100 used Dayton that draws umm 16 amps on 220, so about four hp. I changed the pulley to get the pump speed up, and amp draw, to the max. It does run continuously with the pressure pot routed into the cabinet. .150" nozzle, IIRC. Limiting factor is the dust in the cabinet- more air makes it too hard to see. When I get to the frame, I'll do it outside, and tee in an additional compressor, a 3hp that cost me $25. If and when I burn up the pumps, the motors will be worth what I paid for the things.

Be nice to find a true five hp pump. Much more efficient, with compound pistons, loops of cooler plumbing, centrifugal unloader, slow and quiet.
