Ask yourself what you are going to do with your truck? Get it running the way it is and use it some and take it to the local hardware store on saturdays or are you going to customize it and put fancy new motors in it trying to make it go faster then it was originally designed to go?
These old trucks are just fine the way they are if you use them as they were designed.
