My experience comes from years of having fun with old junk and property with a lot of rock in the way. Both the Cobra and Pionjar push air down the hole in the steel to clear fines just like the compressor supplied rock drills. They like to run dry so they can clear the bore hole. If you have a lot of water in the hole, the fines can pack like cement and cause some problems removing the drill steel. If you are looking, be sure the arbour on the unit matches your available drill steel since there are a couple of different sizes. I have a parts Cobra with a 3/4 arbour. Most are 7/8 and good used drill steel is common and pretty cheap. A local blaster might be able to guide you to the best source. My supplier has lots of good used stuff for reasonable money. I have used mine to drill for rock anchors of the type used by utilities in pole line construction. I don't have any experience with the rock bolts used for slope stabilization. You can drill holes for splitting feathers and then use the jackhammer function to drive the wedge if your rock is suitable. A Hilti works just as well and is a lot easier on the back.

Have fun, Jess
