Discs give off lots more heat. If you have ever faded your drum brakes down a long hill, you wouldn't need to ask.

Plus, they work better when wet. Discs wipe the water off, drums have no where to push the water to. And if you ever get a truck stuck in the mud, drums need to be disassembled and cleaned out. And by the time you've driven it home, the mud has been backed on, like ceramic.

Those are the reasons there are no more vehicles built today that do not have front discs.

That all said, I didn't go to discs. They cost about $800 per axle, and all my drums got were rebuilt cyclinders, $76 per axle.
