the amp gauge problem is largely overblown. it creates a problem when a guy has bad wiring in his rig and adds a 200 amp alternator to power his subwoofer or 20 kchilights on the roll bar of his jeep. i had an amp gauge in my boat. 60 amp alternator. upgraded to a 90 amp alternator to run my radar, converted to a volt meter.
