This is a plumbers lead furnace. My Dad was a plumber and I used it all the time to melt lead for the joints in cast iron soil pipe and to melt 50-50 solder to wipe lead joints. You used a steel sheild on top to hold the heat against the cast iron lead pot. They used white gas. The plug on the left is to fill it and the handle on the right is to pump air into the tank.
