I have not seen it used in a few years but at one time it was used in most salt water ballast tanks on merchant ships. It was float coated in the tank by putting it on the surface of a full tank and raising the tank level up and down a few times.
The coating was very slippery and not a pleasant experience when re-entering the tank for repairs of inspection.
