Truck axles do fit the vans but result in a fairly high "lift" just to clear the differential and cross-member. Atleast this is the case in my 4x4 van which has a Ford spec Dana axle on the front utilizing leaf springs.

None of the major manufacturers here have offered a full size 4x4 van that rolled down the assembly line as such. They always have been shipped off to other shops to complete the "factory" 4x4.

4x4 conversions of vans are alive and well. It's just shaken out to fewer companies doing certified conversions. Quigley is a big player in this market.

There isn't an SUV made that has the interior room of my E350 4x4.
