There is a latest and greatest head that may have been retrofitted to an earlier engine.
But even the blocks interchange. Only difference is the crank and rods. Plus some early/late minor differences. Look for the stamped number on the side, he may have some later 230 engines. Look for numbers starting with D or T.
I've got a good ID book for car engines, year and displacement by the (DCSP) letter and two numbers. Email them to me? The are located above the starter, long pad just below the head gasket.
