Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions to do it myself. And thanks ESPECIALLY to Paul in NY, who provided me with drawings, part numbers, several phone calls, and dozens of emails in this process. My WDX now has a 12v system complete with a 100amp alternator, fuse panel, relays and all new wire with heat shrink connectors.
I can't say it was all smooth sailing, but that was mainly operator (me) error. I don't know how many times I ran all the wires and made up connectors and then realized I still needed one more wire or I had used the wrong connector.
Every time I had a question, Paul was very willing and patient in answering, since most of the questions were the dumb kind.
One thing I decided to do, is move the stop light switch from it's original location, inside of the frame channel, trapped in an unreachable location. I am installing a MICO lever lock on the left side of the steering column, and the stop light switch will now be in a tee off the supply line from the master cylinder. Now in another 65 years, when it needs replaced, it will be much easier to do.
Thanks again Paul, and everyone else. And thanks again to Joe for providing this forum.
