we used to have eager buyers for our old mack single axle and tandem axle tractors. they all went south. they were all cut behind the cab, and the front axles were slid under the cut frame. the cab & front frame then fit into a container. then the rear frame was slid in the container. we once sold 4 tractors to one guy. he flew into bayonne with another guy. they spent a day or two piggybacking the units and then drove them all home to central america somewhere. must have been some trip. if the first tractor breaks down, you have spares. they planned on transferring the diesel from the towed trucks up front as they went along.
