A lot of good points there Manny. Another factor is that people seem to have varying degrees of resistance to the effects of asbestos.

We've heard the story of the father that changed his brakes while his child watched and now that child has asbestosis. Menwhuile, my Dad was a builder till the early eighties and he told of stories how he would cough up the stuff from spreading it for insulation. They used it for EVERTHING in the 40's and 50's. Nobody knew any different. What if in a few years they find out using a microwave to cook food causes altzheimers?

He is in his mid 70's now and thankfully has no ill effects from it. Doctor gave him a clean bill of health with completely fine lung powere. Some people can die from a single bee sting so should we ban them? What about water? How many drownings do we have?

Managing the risks is what life is about. I'm reminded of of a newscast I saw. A local company was Prcessing industrial waste and the newcaster was interviwing a mother who was claiming they needed to be stopped as they were. "putting things into the air that could harm her kids". She was holding her baby in her arms......While smoking a cigarette and blowing smoke in the childs face. Irony to me.
