But Desert Ironwood is very dark, very heavy, very greasy. Very closely related to Lignum Vitae (the tree of life), which is/was used as shaft bearings on submarines. Mexicans carve it by fee hand holding it to a table saw blade. Fingers are cheap in Mexico I guess. Mybe you've seen the dark wooden birds and dolphins? Polished, no finish needed.

Other woods that spark are because of acid crystals that build up within. Darn, can't think of the acid. Apitong is one wood, used as trailer beds here in California. Looks like P.I. Mahogony, sparks when Cat tracks slip.
