Your cutting range dictates a machine with a large power supply, and I strongly recommend you go with a machine you can get local service and parts for.

You definitely need 240 volt power, and you'll also need a good air system backing the machine up. Clean and dry compressed air mean a lot more in plasma than they do in painting.

If a company named Neverlast is on your list erase it fast.
Be very wary of offshore and mailorder machines, way too many third rate and counterfit parts.

Investigate the cost of consumables and where you will sourse them, dealers tend to be about 3 times the cost of larger suppleiers such as Indiana Oxygen.

You also need to look at how any inverter machine is put together. There are known problems caused by the mandated lead free solder, and the cost of a replacement board can be killer.

When you think you're ready to buy, run a machine to machine comparison against Hypertherm. By then you will either be knowledgable or completely confused. Either way, Hypertherm should be the machine of choice based on performence.

Any dealer who won't give you a testdrive on a machine ain't worth leaving your money at.
