My thoughts are that the seller is trying to recover the costs of a professional restoration. Or maybe the seller was the restorer and values his time pretty highly. It is easy to spend crazy money restoring any vehicle if you do not do the work yourself and don't contribute some sweat equity. I'm not saying the truck is worth $70K. I'm saying the restoration may have cost the guy close to that if done by professional restorers.

I watch Barret Jackson and see alot of vehicles sell for under what it must have cost to restore or customize them. Heck, some of the cars and trucks sell for what the engine and paint alone must have cost. You hear the announcers say all the time "you couldn't restore it for that". On the other extreme, as I remember, a Toyota FJ-40 Landcruser with matching trailer sold for upwards of $70K at BJ this year.

Money is all relative. If someone has that kind of scratch and wants a pristine head turner, that truck would be hard to beat. However, I think you could get something pretty close for 20-30K less from Charles Talbert at M-Series Rebuild, or Steve Wataha, or a couple other guys who do very nice work. But you will have to wait for who knows how long and it may not come out like you expect. This truck is ready to go out the door and into your garage/trailer today.

This isn't a no-reserve auction like BJ. The guy has set his price. Let's see how long the ad lasts in the photo classifieds. There's room in the hobby for all types of owners, vehicles, and maybe even prices. My 2 cents.
