Here is the bed info I have. G

From the Classic Dodge Trucks Web Site

Utiline Bed 6 1/2', 7 1/2' and 9'
Utiline short bed was 6 1/2' long, 54-55" (4.5') wide. For 1/2Ton.
Outside step on the bottom of the bed in front of the fender
This same basic bed was used up to '85.
Wood floors with metal strips. No metal floors on the stepsides.

Utiline long bed was 7 1/2' long, 54-55" (4.5') wide. For 1/2Ton and 3/4 Ton. 9' bed for 1 Ton (rare) .
Produced, at least til the mid 70s. Wood floors with metal strips. No metal floors on the stepsides.

Flare top, flat top
The flared or angled top bed rails were made in the '54 and '55 years, with some '56s, and on all 3 length beds. In late '56 the bed rails were switched to a flat top. The flat top bed was standard up to end of production in mid 80s.

Low side, high side box
The low sides also ended in early '56, and were rare for that year.

Fenders on stepsides
used pre '54 fenders on some pre '58 beds. Some pre '53 fenders on a few stepside beds. Didn't follow any particular pattern. My best guess is that they used pre '53 fenders on some trucks to get rid of an excessive inventory.

Stake pockets
Some trucks with 3 or 4 stake pockets, usually 3 pockets, on 9' 1Ton models.
Most 1/2 and 3/4 Tons had the 2 pockets.

Sweptline Bed 6 1/2', 8'3' and 9'
Sweptline short wide bed was 6 1/2' long and approx. 6' wide. For 1/2Ton.
Used for '59 and '60 only. Was available in W series 4wd. All Sweptline beds had all metal floors.

Sweptline long bed was 8'3' long. For 1/2Ton and 3/4 Ton 2wd. 9' bed for 1 ton (rare).
Used for '59 and '60 only. Was available in W series 4wd. All Sweptline beds had all metal floors.

The mold setup was then sold to Studebaker. They shortened up the longer version of this bed about 6 or 9 inches (not sure which) in front of the wheel opening and used it for about 10-12 years.

In '61, Dodge had a Sweptline but it was a different bed design to compliment the new Pick-up design. From '61 to early '65 they had a round tail light and chains on the tailgate. From mid '65 to '71 they had elongated tail lights and the tail gate was opened by a pull latch in the center of the tailgate. Hinged steel straps replaced the chains. It also had double wall construction.

Stake Side Beds 7 1/2' and 9'
Flat beds or Stake side beds were 7 1/2' for 1/2Ton and 3/4 Ton and 9' for 1 ton.
The stake sides were removable.

Tradesman
A utility box made for hauling tools etc. for contractors.

Sweptsides
All the Sweptside models had wood floors. They were built by using the 7 1/2' stepside bed, taking the outside fenders off and mounting 2 door station wagon quarter panels on the outside of the box.

WDX thru WM300 Bed Year / Model Changes
All the cabs will bolt up as they kept the same hole locations BUT... The dash layout changed. Probably other things as well but the doors are the same(except for one or 2 piece door glass) On the beds here's some info from Sven ;)

"The "first series" beds are on the following Power-Wagon models: WDX - 1946 through 1947, B-1-PW - 1948 through 1949, B-2-PW - 1950, and B-3-PW - very early 1951.

Early in 1951 during the B-3-PW model, the beds changed to the "second series". This series lasted through 1956 and were also found on models B-3-PW 1952 through 1953, C-1-PW - 1954 and C-3-PW - 1955 through 1956. In 1957 the beds changed to the "third series". The "third series" beds were found on models W300 - 1957, W300M - 1958 through 1959, and WM300 - 1960 through the end of the WM300 model in 1968, or 1972 if you count export models.

The second series bed strips will not work on a first series bed without modification. There may be a source of first series bed strips coming soon. We may see a post here when they are available.
