At some point, it seems like it will be worth it, especially if WCL is the only outfit that still has the dies and they'll probably scrap them eventually. In the electronics business we do what's called an "end of life buy" when a component that's still being used in production is being obsoleted by the manufacturer. They'll notify their customers that it's time to buy all they'll ever need before the tooling is scrapped.
On the other hand, I'm sure one could take a trip to China and find a factory that would make all you could ever want for a penny a piece including NRE.
One thing for sure is it's rare to be able to save a good square lock-washer off an old bolt. Either they're already broken or you can't get them off the bolts.
