Check the timing! Check the timing chain. It may be real loose and jumped. I fought my 74 D200 440 a while back and it ran fine/didnt run fine. Idle wouldnt Idle Carb backfire and so on and it ended up being 2 things. The vacuum advance in the distributor was shot. Ballist resister was bad. I t got DAM HOT and that is what was cuasing my miss and stumble. The backfire thru the carb was caused by the vacuum advance not advancing cuz it was bad.
