The following information was imparted to me by my Guru Dave Cirillo (hope I get it right)! There where two types of inputs on the 435 The 10 spline which was used from 64 to 68 and the later version from 69 on which had a 23 tooth 1" spline. the 64-68 was used with the hydraulic bellhousing and had the longest input shaft (yours would be in this catagory).
If you where doing one of our V8 conversions for the WDX this is the gearbox you would use. if it was for a M37 with the mechanical bellhousing you would need to change the input shaft to a later shorter one. The V8 np420 was used only until 68 so it was only made for hydraulic bellhousings and has the long input shaft. Dave and I are compiling a table of measurements for the diferent geartrain components and which boxes and engines they will swap into.
