Howdy.
As most of you know, I will be putting a 318 in my '51 Dodge M-37. I do plan on using the Helitool kit for this installation. I dont plan to stick with the 420 trans tho, but I have a NP540 with Hydralic bellhosing from a '66 D-600 Dump truck that had a 318 Poly in it. I am not sure if trans is OD or Direct, BUT, I figure it must be heavier duty than the 4 speed, and if its a direct trans, atleast I get one more mid gear split for off road use..and best of all, It has a PTO On it too for using the winch. Well anyhow, Sorry for being so long winded, my questions are this: Will the 540 be a faily direct bolt in to a M-37? WIll I be able to use the Hydralic bellhousing? IF this is NOT a direct bolt in, what will it take to make it work? Thank you for your time.
